BusinessTech is a personal website from Stuart Appley, devoted to thoughts, opinions and posts related to the intersection of business and technology.  All opinions expressed are purely my own.

I’m a Silicon Valley business leader passionate about helping companies grow and succeed with technology. I’m a cloud evangelist, having instituted a ‘cloud first’ strategy as an approach to digital transformation and business growth.  I frequently speak on change, collaboration, and the innovation. As an advisor to several startups and venture capital firms, I get a first hand view of emerging technologies and digital approaches.  I’m a member of the Consortium of Information System Executives and the Realcomm Advisory Council, and a board member of the CISE Education Fund. I was also a contributing author on the book CIO Perspectives.

I’m currently a Managing Director at CBRE, where I’m the Technology Solutions Leader for the West Division of the Global Workplace Solutions Group, responsible for providing executive technology oversight and consulting to current and potential clients across the region.  I also champion and lead new digital, mobile, AI, IOT, blockchain and other innovation projects in support of client satisfaction and growth opportunities.

I was previously the Chief Information Officer at Shorenstein Realty Services, a leading national Commercial Real Estate Investment and Operating company.  At Shorenstein, I led the transformation of the company’s technology environment into an innovative and best in class organization, championing and leading new digital engagement opportunities, while winning Realcomm’s Digital Innovation award.

Prior to Shorenstein, I was the CIO at Walden International, a global venture capital firm, where I had worldwide responsibility for the firm’s technology needs.  Additionally, I acted as an advisor to Walden International’s portfolio companies, while also participating in the due diligence of Walden’s investments in IT related companies.  I’ve also held senior level technology and management positions at LGT Asset Management, First Nationwide Bank, and Lomas & Nettleton Information Systems.
